The Nature of Change - mindfulness, somatics, permaculture

  • Islington Ecology Centre 191 Drayton Park London, England, N5 1PH United Kingdom (map)

The Nature of Change is a day workshop, in our We Are Nature series, exploring the ever-changing nature of our experience through meditation, somatic practice, guided enquiry and a permaculture lens on natural cycles and transformation.

It might often feel as though everything around us is shifting faster than we can keep up. The world is unstable, unpredictable and uncertain. Relationships change, roles evolve and the wider context of climate breakdown, war, inequality and economic pressure can leave us disoriented or bracing for what comes next.

This workshop offers space to slow down and explore change directly, not as an abstract idea, but as a lived, embodied reality. Through gentle movement, mindful awareness and dialogue, we’ll notice the coming and going of sensations, emotions, thoughts and circumstances. We’ll explore ecological patterns of succession, disturbance and regeneration, and reflect on how these natural processes are also moving through our own lives.

As we become more intimate with change, something else may begin to reveal itself, a steadiness beneath the shifting surface, a quiet awareness that is not disturbed by what comes and goes. In reconnecting with this deeper ground, we may discover greater ease, adaptability and trust in the unfolding of life.

Ariyanandā from Open Ground and Michel from Social Landscapes invite you into this exploration: a day to pause, to meet change with curiosity rather than resistance, and to rediscover the stillness that is already here.
